Recent videos shared by the Delhi Police's X account have depicted female constables experiencing dehydration, officers having their uniforms torn by crowds, and aggressive interactions with protesters. The Delhi force has also documented instances of providing aid to demonstrators and recording interactions when sensitive personal information, like a death in the family, is shared with detained individuals.

This initiative comes as Mumbai has experienced several protests recently, alongside significant police deployment for festivals. The aim is to present a more complete picture of policing during public gatherings, countering perceptions that may portray officers as insensitive.

Senior inspectors in Mumbai have noted that while media outlets often film police managing crowds, these recordings rarely capture the physical and emotional strain on officers. The Delhi Police's approach seeks to address this by showing the challenges faced by law enforcement.

The Delhi Police established a "perception management" division in 2021, which actively uses social media to respond to negative portrayals of the force during protests. This division, headed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, also works to counter unfavorable comments online and has issued "fact checks" regarding social media claims.
