The cancellations are in place ahead of a planned protest by the Cockroach Janta Party-led (CJP) demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Eastern Railways announced the cancellation of Rajdhani Express services from Howrah and Sealdah to New Delhi. Western Railway has rescheduled two Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express trains departing from Mumbai and cancelled one express service.
Trains arriving at Anand Vihar and Old Delhi stations will operate as usual. Meanwhile, Delhi Police denied permission for the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar and requested the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to shut 57 metro stations from Friday evening until Saturday, citing potential unruly mob movement.
